The most iconic Eames design, the 670 lounge chair, is finished in sumptuous black leather and gorgeous dark santos palisander wood produced by Herman Miller. The wonderfully grainy finish of the wood re-imagines the original rosewood the vintage chairs were finished in to create a great modern version.

Continually produced since their introduction in 1956, the Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman is the most well-known design piece in its category. The phasing out of Rosewood due to its being endangered made Herman Miller look to other wood resources to continue the production and, in 2006, Santos Palisander was offered to the market and took it by storm.

Individual Characteristics

This is a newer, used, chair set and the condition reflects this. The sumptuous leather is soft – but not yet ‘worn in’ – and the wood displays little to no marks on it.

The sticker on the underside of the chair indicates this is a newer example of the Herman Miller and Eames Lounge Chair.

Investment Value

Being the design piece that it is, these chairs definitely gain a lot of investment interest. The most highly sought-after are the vintage variants, naturally in a good condition, which therefore carry the highest investment values. Newer examples do not tend to see the same investment benefits, but they will definitely retain their value and are the perfect chair to lounge in.
