One of the original six colours, a pair of gorgeous elephant grey Herman Miller Eames dining side chairs look resplendent on their walnut ‘DSW’ dowel bases. A design that has truly stood the test of time, the Eames’s ‘chair for the people’ really has lived up to this legacy and this gorgeous duo does just that.

First introduced in the arm variant, the fiberglass series quickly saw success prompting the development of the side version. From this a myriad of wonderful colours were made available and, eventually, this was furthered by Herman Miller offering vinyl and fabric upholstery options for them too.

Individual Characteristics

The chairs are in very good condition for their age. There are no chips or cracks and the colour has retained a deep intensity which is just amazing.

The C with the 5-pointed star on it indicates these shells were produced by Herman Miller in their Cincinnati Milacron factory. 

Investment Details

The investment value of these beautiful chairs depends on many factors: the age and condition of the shell, the rarity of its colour, the age of the base and where the shell was produced. Whilst all of the shell chairs are viable investments, these pieces rate higher due to their colour – harking back to the original shells produced.
