Green Herman Miller Vintage Original Eames Upholstered DSR Side Shell Chair

An amazing combination; a vintage Herman Miller and Eames side chair with Alexander Girards’ ‘lime’ green vinyl on its, newer, used black DSR base, perfect. The wonderful original vinyl adds a zesty finish to the chair which is gently complimented by the white of the shell and all this pops on the black of the DSR base.

The Eames shells have barely changed through their long life, retaining their modern feel with flare. Throughout their production, however, the introduction of new bases to maintain the versatility of the chairs along with the coveted upholstered range designed with the help of Alexander Girard were introduced to ensure the chairs retained their modern look.

Individual Characteristics

This particular top is in very good condition for its age, there are no signs of cracks or dents whilst the vinyl upholstery has no lifting or tears and only some light signs of age present. It would benefit from a very good clean.  

The remnants of the stamp just visible behind the Herman Miller applied fabric compliance label suggests this is a Summit Prime stamp which would suggest this is an early upholstered version produced by Herman Miller at the start of Summit Plastics taking on production.
