Orange Herman Miller Original Eames DSW Side Shell Chair
Product Description
A vibrant orange, original reintroduced Eames fiberglass side shell chair for Herman Miller on a newer, used walnut wood DSW dowel base makes a bold statement. The bright orange shell has a wonderful deep colour with fantastic clearly seen visible fibers. A really nice and desirable example.
The Eames shell series chairs really do not need any introduction. With early prototypes beginning in the late 1940's, production began on the Eames' dream of 'chairs for the masses' in 1950 with the arm and then the sides later in 1952/53. The original and vintage fiberglass chairs were so versatile and so modern that they only increase in popularity as the years go by.
Herman Miller faithfully reintroduced the fiberglass version of the iconic Eames shell chair to re-capture the original style the vintage variants display. The wonderfully textured fibers help define the colour whilst giving the shells a sense of depth in their design.
Individual Characteristics
A newer version of the shell chair, the condition is exemplary. It has had the front mounts replaced at some point in the past, but these are strong and sturdy.
The newer, used base is in good condition with only natural signs of use evident as would be expected.
The logo dictates the shell was made at the Herman Miller factory and is a post 2013 shell.
Investment Details
Eames Shell Chairs vary from 1 to 5 stars for investment. The reasons depend on so many factors but mainly the condition, the rarity of the colour, the originality of the base, the age and of course the maker are those that determine. Newer shells will take longer to grow in value but will always retain their price and this deep orange version will always be desirable.
