A design icon. This classic Knoll Eero Saarinen original Tulip dining arm chair finished in white with its lovely red cushion makes the perfect dining chair. A revolutionary design, this wonderful piece did away with the ‘mess of legs’ and utilised the iconic pedestal base instead and changed the dining scene forever. 

Part of a design collection, the chair is one of a few items Saarinen created to change the dining and, to a lesser degree, living room scenes. The effortlessly flowing lines and striking design has helped ensure that this collection has managed to retain a very modern feel and sees them still be widely used by interior designers and design buffs in kind.

Individual Characteristics

The original fiberglass finish of the seat top has been well used, but is still very much intact. The colour has slightly darkened over time, but there are minimal chips present. The cushion appears to be reconditioned, but is in, we believe, original fabric.

The base reflects the use of the top with some small scuffs and marks on it, but it too is still strong and sturdy and the swivel mechanism works perfectly.
The chair displays its original ‘Knoll International’ label.

Original Eero Saarinen and Knoll pieces are highly coveted pieces. Much like with anything, the age, originality and condition help determine the investment value of the chair.
