Orange Herman Miller Original Eames DSW Dining Side Shell Chair
A vibrant orange original authentic Eames fiberglass side shell for Herman Miller on an updated, used, walnut DSW base makes a bold statement and dining piece. The bright orange shell has a wonderful deep colour with fantastic clearly seen visible fibers. A really nice and desirable example.
The Eames shell series chairs really do not need any introduction. With early prototypes beginning in the late 1940's, production began on the Eames' dream of 'chairs for the masses' in 1950 with the arm and then the sides later in 1952/53. The original and vintage fiberglass chairs were so versatile and so modern that they only increase in popularity as the years go by.
A good vintage example of the shell chair, the condition is good considering its age. The used walnut base is in good condition with only natural signs of use evident as would be expected.
The logo dictates the shell was made at the Herman Miller factory between 1958-1959. The medallion may be missing but this does not affect the investment value of the shell.
Eames Shell Chairs vary from 1 to 5 stars for investment. The reasons depend on so many factors but mainly the condition, the rarity of the colour, the originality of the base, the age and of course the maker are those that determine. As deep, highly fibrous examples, these shells should prove to be a reasonable investment piece..
