Greige Herman Miller Vintage Original Eames RAR Arm Shell Chair
Product Description
You cannot get better than an excellent example of an original vintage Herman Miller Eames Greige arm shell chair sitting on a used light ash RAR rocking base. A distinctive and yet unique colour, greige was one of the six standard colours made available by Zenith for sale and was their own blend of beige and grey.
When the shells were first introduced, the arm in 1950 and the side later in 1952/53, they were available in four colours: seafoam, elephant hide grey, parchment and greige. Their success helped build the shell chair popularity, which in turn allowed the introduction of the side shells too. The consistency of the colours helped see them last well into the long spell of production the shell chairs saw.
Individual Characteristics
This shell is in great vintage condition with no chips or cracks whilst the bold colour has not faded over time.
Please note, the base supplied will be the light ash version as shown in the individual image in the listing pictures.
The shell is stamped with the ‘C’ with the five pointed star which determines that it was produced by Herman Miller’s Cincinnati Milicron factory between 1965 and 1978.
