An excellent original, Eames side chair for Vitra by Herman Miller looks fantastic in grey yellow sat upon its complimentary used, newer, walnut DSW dowel base. Grey yellow is a rare colour offered mainly on the upholstered shell, but these, however, are the proper non-upholstered versions and so are extra special.

Herman Miller granted license to Vitra to produce and sell the Eames products in Europe on their behalf. In this, they were able to offer these wonderful new designs to the European market and it was received very well! The wonderful array of colours these fiberglass shell chairs were offered in meant they blended seamlessly into nearly any environment cementing their popularity.

Individual Characteristics

As a rare colour, this shell is a fantastic example to own. The chair does show some natural signs of wear around the edges but is in great vintage condition.

The label on the underside indicates this is an early Vitra shell produced under license from Herman Miller which places this shell as being from roughly the late 1950s.

Investment Details

Eames shells are a highly collectable piece. Of course, as with anything, their age and condition are the primary factors influencing the investment value of them and this is coupled with the colour and originality of the chair. As an excellent example of a grey yellow side chair, this is a good investment piece.
